The event seeks to position Peru as a leading center for the region’s artistic movement, bringing together disciplines such as visual arts, digital arts, and performing arts.
This year, the international open call attracted more than 20,000 applicants from 60 countries, from which 560 artistic works were selected. The selection process was conducted by an internationally renowned jury, including Carlos Gonzales (Peru), Elly Prestegard (Canada), Péter Pócs (Hungary), Monirul Alam (Bangladesh), and Ana Brum (Brazil).
The official opening was scheduled for Friday, December 6, at 7:15 p.m., at the Museo Aeronáutico del Perú in Lima. The exhibition features visual and performing arts projects from countries including the United States, England, China, Brazil, Poland, Switzerland, France, and Uruguay. The program also includes a conference titled “Journeys of Inspiration,” presented by Turkish filmmaker Mediha Didem Türemen.
Among the international artists recognized in this edition are Carlos Smith (England), FØGRA (United States), Jianzhong Liu (China), and Yessica Texeira (Brazil). The event also recognizes Peruvian artists including André Granados, Ingrid Arias, Felipe Coaquira, and Mónica Ccalla.
According to Fidel Cárdenas, President of Peru Bienal, the initiative seeks to consolidate Peru as an artistic and cultural center in the region, while promoting art as an essential tool for preserving and transmitting cultural heritage.
The international exhibition was open to the public through Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Museo Aeronáutico del Perú, with free admission.
