I don’t move…I don’t scream

Synopsis

Shudrka Hyderabad’s monologue “I DON’T MOVE….I DON’T SCREAM” is inspired by Franca Rame’s Lo Stupro (The Rape written in 1983). The original play draws on Rame’s traumatic personal experiences after she was kidnapped, tortured, and gang raped in 1973 by a neofascist group that was discovered to have been commissioned by several high-ranking Milanese police officials. Rame’s play is adapted and transformed into an autobiographical performance and refers to its historical links with women’s strife for justice. It is a reworked theatrical text on the use of sexual violence in the recent wave of violence in different parts of India.
