Synopsis

Monodrama born from a final thesis which has been played 80
times to date, sold out, all across Hungary and with more times invited abroad too (Vienna,Luxembourg, Barcelona) .
Márk Márfi wrote his thesis in the spring of 2020, during the pandemic, at home, at his family’s turkey farm in rural Hungary. This is a coming of age story, touching upon topics like separation from parents, moving out, growing up and finding our own footing while the family
backdrop is ridden with trauma.
Writing during corona, it may have never happened before that final year actors had the opportunity to write in such a focused manner while the whole world ground to a halt. Thus this situation had two angles – you had to write from a constrained, locked in perspective, but
also gained a special kind of artistic freedom.
While this project was born of Márk’s thesis, his teachers encouraged him to turn the writing into a real play emphasising the special value it carries.
The play will be performed in Hungarian with subtitles or audio translation provided for inclusivity.
The play is about 75 minutes long, followed by an informal conversation with the writer and actor (approximately an hour) where the audience can ask questions and connect with the artist.
