PERU BIENAL

The renowned Spanish performing arts company MikrÓpera brought its distinctive approach to lyrical theater and contemporary performance to Lima as part of the Peru Bienal 2026 International Performing Arts Program.

Recognized for creating intimate and accessible productions that bring opera and lyrical theater closer to diverse audiences, MikrÓpera presented its artistic proposal in Peru as part of the Bienal’s international program, which brings together theater, dance, performance, and other contemporary performing arts from around the world.

MikrÓpera was selected among the international companies and artists participating in the official Performing Arts program of Peru Bienal 2026. The selection was part of an international process that received 1,870 applications and selected 187 proposals for official presentations.

The Spanish company has developed an internationally recognized artistic trajectory, combining lyrical music, theater, storytelling, and contemporary stage language. Among its productions is LyriBélula, crisálida en 3 arias, a work that has been presented at international festivals in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America and has received several international distinctions.

Its participation in Peru Bienal represents a new opportunity for cultural exchange between Spain and Peru, bringing an innovative vision of performing arts to Peruvian audiences while strengthening the Bienal’s international network of artists, companies, and cultural institutions.

For Peru Bienal, the presence of MikrÓpera reinforces its commitment to presenting diverse international voices and promoting dialogue between different artistic traditions and contemporary forms of expression.
